50th rider !
Joos Bikes for Peace in Zeeland
Joos was supposed to show me off to the edge of her village Kloetinge. Then the rain started. And the gale. So she liked it so much she decided we should go and have tea somewhere out there. Since she had gone 10 km, it was only natural that she guide me all the way to the new harbor of Vlissingen. And once there, the storm had so cut me thin that she could do nothing else but break the wind for me… until my next couchsurf, sympathetic bike activist Wim, who arrived presently, at the cockpit of his fantabulous rocket bike. Another wild day in Zeeland. In most countries, birds fly and cows walk. Here birds stay hidden and cows fly off in whole flocks.

Lowe chanté par Crow
Et puis en bonus, parce que cette chanson m'a toujours donné des frissons :
Aaaah pis puisque vous êtes si gentils :

Grotere kaart weergeven
Les deux derniers jours,
de bien petits sauts de puce,
mais sous les trombes.
Des linceuls, des mantilles,
des courtines poisseuses
recouvrent tout et s'invitent
dans chaque interstice
J'arrive chez ma pote
au bout de cet interminable
test de mon obstination
fourbu et moulu par la froidure
ruisselante et suintante
Nous nous serrons la main
sous l'assiette laiteuse qui
nous fait office de firmament
Ma gentille amie dont le nom
est Ceciel

To & Sebo Bike for Peace on a Tandem

Waters
It was just before dawn
One miserable morning in black 'forty four
When the forward commander
Was told to sit tight
When he asked that his men be withdrawn
And the Generals gave thanks
As the other ranks held back
The enemy tanks for a while
And the Anzio bridgehead
Was held for the price
Of a few hundred ordinary lives
And kind old King George
Sent mother a note
When he heard that father was gone
It was, I recall
In the form of a scroll
With gold leaf and all
And I found it one day
In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away
And my eyes still grow damp to remember
His Majesty signed
With his own rubber stamp
It was dark all around
There was frost in the ground
When the tigers broke free
And no one survived
From the Royal Fusiliers Company C
They were all left behind,
Most of them dead,
The rest of them dying
And that's how the High Command
Took my daddy from me
